Welcome!
    Dear Friends,
Thank you for visiting the Phoenix First Congregational United Church of Christ's
web page. We hope you'll continue your journey by visiting us for worship some
Sunday soon! First Church Phoenix is a dynamic community of faith which takes
seriously Jesus' call to speak for the voiceless and act to care for those most in
need. At the same time, we encourage children to discover, youth to explore and
adults to deepen their spiritual call to live out their faith through worship, music,
arts, dance, study, prayer and meditation.

This is a community that has something of the traditional - in look and feel and style – yet which is
very much a part of the emerging world in its outlook.

We are an intentionally open and affirming, inclusive, diverse community (regardless of age,
educational or economic background, physical or mental ability, gender, gender identity or sexual
orientation, political affiliation, ethnicity or race).

In worshiping God, we find ourselves spiritually recharged and better equipped for life. While we love
the Bible, we take it too seriously to take it literally. We are convinced that the God whose Spirit
inspired the Bible's authors inspires us still. “God is Still Speaking”

We are progressive in our theology – So we follow Jesus in his bottom line 3 loves: Love God, Love your
Neighbor (including your enemy!) as you Love Yourself.

Peace,
Rev. Dr. Stephen E. Wayles
